Nobody's catching Chase girls in outdoor opener

GRANT, Neb. — Nothing like outscoring four other teams’ total while winning the first meet of a track and field season.

The Chase County girls achieved that feat on Thursday with 249 team points which topped Dundy County-Stratton (76), Wauneta-Palisade (64), South Platte (59) and Perkins County (28) in a Perkins County Pre-Season Meet.

They also showed amazing balance as nine different Longhorns won eight individual events.

Only senior Sarah Allen was a double-event champion in both the long jump and triple jump.

Chase County’s four foes tallied 227 points total. Both Wauneta-Palisade junior Faith Simpson and DC-S senior Madison Lambley earned a pair of championships.
