Palisade to issue 'chicken permits'
PALISADE, Neb. — Palisade residents can raise chickens in their yards — if their neighbors approve.
On March 8, Palisade’s village board approved a new ordinance allowing chickens within the city limits; second and third readings of the ordinance are planned at board meetings in April and May.
A “chicken permit” will cost $25, and requires the written consent of any neighbor within 150 feet of the chickens. A building permit will be needed to build a chicken coop.
