OBERLIN, Kan. Barbara Jean Kappers, 86, died Friday (March 17, 2017), at the Good Samaritan Society in Oberlin.

She was born April 12, 1930, in Rexford, Kan., to Charles and Clairice (McAfoos) Corbin. She attended Rexford High School. She married Glen King in January 1953. After his death, she married John Kappers November of 1982.

She was a waitress and homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Oberlin.

She was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Clairice (McAfoos) Corbin; husbands, Glen King (1968) and John Kappers (2016); four brothers, Wayne "Hal" Corbin, Carolee Corbin, Clifford Fox and Cleo Fox; and granddaughter, JoEllen King.

Survivors include her children, Gary (Karon) King of Indianola, Neb., Ricky (Beth) King of Glendale, Colo., Linda (Ronyie) Beachel of Oberlin, Carolyn (Pete) Morales of Firestone, Colo., and Debbie (Eagle) Jernigan of McCook, Neb.; sister-in-law, Linda Fox of Oberlin; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today, 2 p.m. at the Rexford Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Duncan officiating. Interment is at the Rexford Cemetery. Memorials are being accepted in her name.
