ARAPAHOE, Neb. -- Robert D. Dyer, 45, of Arapahoe, died Thursday (March 2, 2017), at his home.

He was born March 20, 1971, at Lewistown, Mont., to Darrell and Bonnie (Wombold) Dyer. He graduated from Winifred High School in 1989. He served in Germany and Africa before being honorably discharged in 1995. He earned an associate's degree in diesel mechanics. He married Dixie Hilker on Aug. 5, 2006, at Arapahoe. They lived in Arapahoe and he worked at Allmand Brothers in Holdrege, Neb., for the past 12 years.

He was a member of the Edison American Legion and Evangelical Free Church of Arapahoe and volunteered with the Arapahoe Fire and Rescue Squad.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Dixie of Arapahoe; children, Ryder Dyer, Wyatt and Tyler Kipp of Arapahoe; brothers, Darell and wife, Krista Dyer of Winifred, Bill and wife, Shelly Dyer of Lewistown, Mont., Joe and wife, DeBra Dyer of Atlanta, Neb., Bert Challans of Hope, Kan., and Allen and wife, Jan Dyer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sisters, Helen and husband, Neil Rich of Winifred, Crystal and husband, Kyle Miller of Craig, Colo., and Donna and husband, Terry Tannihill of Arapahoe; brothers-in-law, Shane and wife, Ronda Hilker and Kevin and wife, Tammy Hilker, all of Arapahoe; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Sunday, March 5, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Chapel, 652 Main Street in Arapahoe.

Funeral services are Monday, March 6, 2017, 10:30 a.m., at Ella Missing Center, 411 6th Street in Arapahoe with the Rev. Nathan Goshert officiating. Inurnment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery with military rites given by Edison American Legion of Edison, Neb.
