MCC women drop two at home

MCCOOK, Neb. -- The new Nebraska Community College Activities Confernce champs ran into two tough basketball visitors last weekend.

McCook Community College's women -- fresh off a league title clinched at North Platte on Tuesday -- dropped a 57-53 contest to Otero (Colo.) College Friday night.

Erica Peet and Colby Cox each scored 17 points for the Indians while Kaylea Watson added 12. Yet McCook couldn't quite hold on to a 24-21 halftime lead.

A'Leah Davis (six points) and Grayce Jorgensen (one) were the only other Indians who addedd points.

On Saturday, a terrific Trinidad (Colo.) College team took charge of their 77-40 victory in McCook.

A 24-5 second quarter ignited the win.

Watson's 12 points paced McCook again while Davis added eight. Peet and sophomore Eva Atunuwa scored six points each.
