Cookoff heats up MCC hoops on Saturday

It's Chili Time!

The MCC Indians Boosters 17th Annual Dick Driml Chili Cook-off will be held on Saturday in the Peter & Dolores Graff Events Center on the McCook Community College campus.

Trophies will be given to the top three chilis, as well as for the People's Choice award. The winners in 2016 were: 1st --Chris Smith with the McCook Lions 1704Club; 2nd -- Adam Siegfried of the Coppermill Steakhouse and Loop Brewery; 3rd -- Chelsey Benes of MNB Insurance -- People's Choice -- Shirley Driml-Perez.

All are invited, so come enjoy great chili -- and vote for your favorite --while watching some exciting MCC Indians basketball!

Serving will begin at 1 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gym so you can enjoy chili before and during the games serving will end immediately following the halftime of the men's game.

The cost for adults (19+) is $5, ages 6-18 AND college students, who show their ID, is $3, and ages 5 and under is free for all you can eat.

The MCC Phi Beta Lambda Club will be selling desserts for a tasty finish to your chili.

The MCC Indians will be playing Trinidad State Junior College with the women's game at 2:00 p.m. and the men's game at 4:00 p.m.

The event was first held by Dick Driml, former MCC instrumental music instructor. It has been continued in his memory, and the proceeds are used by the MCC Indians Boosters to assist the MCC Athletic Programs.
