McCook state wrestling matchups are all set

OMAHA, Neb. -- Wow, a 45-2 opponent will start the McCook Bison wrestlers' state tournament on Thurdsay at Century Link Center.

Freshman district runner-up Carsoin Richards faces this challenge in his 106-pound opening match.

Crete freshman Shawn Buchanan was upset during his district tourney, but he recovered to win third place and earn this match against Richards.

More details will appear on Wednesday including opening state matches for all area wrestlers.

A quick rundown of McCook's other four openers:

160 pounds: Senior Dunncan Rogers (28-12) tangles with district champ Jacob Pinkerton (40-4) from Beatrice.

182: Senior Eric Langan (26-6) won a district consolation title and will face another runner-up in Justin Grabowski (22-13) of Omaha Gross Catholic.

195: District champ Jaret Matson (25-5) meets fourth-place finisher Berto Vergara (22-14) from Wayne.

220: District champ Kaleb Taylor (25-5) aims to continue his terrific late-season momentum vs. 34-10 Mikey Reyes of Wayne.
