Falcon girls rally past Rawlins

Steve Towery/McCook Gazette Sophomore Angela Singhateh of Rawlins County, Kan., presented a tall challenge for junior Jasmine Youngquist and the Hitchcock County Falcons Tuesday. The Falcons found a way to win by one point.

TRENTON, Neb. -- Trailing by eight at halftime, the Hitchcock County girls rallied and found just enough offense to win 36-35 over Rawlins County, Kan., Tuesday night.

The Falcons (9-9 record) hit only 21 percent of their shots (13 for 61) but held those Buffaloes to only 12 made baskets .

Sophomore Allison Hoyt's 10 points helped Hitchcock overcome an 18-10 halftime deficit.

Freshman Zoey Hillis added eight points and a team-high six rebounds.

Junior Courtney Hrnchir scored six more crucial points. Senior Aubrey Wagner finished with five.

Sophomore Amy Crouse's 12 points powered Rawlins County (6-9). Junior Natalie Hawkins netted nine points and freshman Kristen Beckman pulled down 11 rebounds in this close contest.
