Five teams arrive for McCook home wrestling meet
MCCOOK, Neb. -- Bulldogs will be unleashed from both Alliance and North Platte during Monday's McCook Wrestling Dual Invitational.
Class B No. 6 Alliance and three other wrestling teams will visit McCook for Friday's McCook Dual Tournament.
Class A North Platte, Grand Island Northwest and always tough Wray, Colo., are the other teams scheduled to compete.
Matches are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and continue into the evening.
Alliance brings Class B's sixth best meet team, according to Nebraska Wrestling Coaches Association raters. The Bulldogs feature No. 5-rated Danny Vallejo at 160 pounds and No. 6 Bryant Wilson at 170.
Jorgen Johnson also holds the No. 6 spot among 138 pounders in Class B.
North Platte's Braiden Ruffin is ranked Class A No. 1 at 170.
Only one other N.P. Bulldog currently appears among the Class A top six: Jordan Barber at 120.
Not much information was available about Grand Island Northwest or the Wray Eagles.
The McCook Bison have featured multiple state-rated wrestlers including seniors Eric Langan, Jaret Matson, Dunncan Rogers and senior Jaret Matson. They're looking to resume winning dual ways after a pair of three-point defeats at the Gothenburg Triangular on Tuesday.
