Sheriff seeks return of stolen tools scattered on road
McCOOK, Neb. -- Red Willow County sheriff's officers are asking the public's assistance in recovering tools stolen in a burglary at Ag Valley Co-Op in Bartley Tuesday morning.
Sheriff Alan Kotschwar said this morning that a suspect is in custody and the investigation continues into the incident.
Kotschwar said that someone broke into a locked building owned by Ag Valley, loaded a 2001 Ford F-250 pickup with tools and left. The driving appears to have been erratic, said Sgt. Steve Kotschwar, and tools fell out of the back of the pickup.
The sheriff said that some tools have been recovered, however, "If anyone finds tools, from Bartley to McCook, please contact the sheriff's office so we can return them to their rightful owner and complete our investigation."
The McCook Police Department arrested a suspect, who has been jailed in the county's detention center. Sgt. Kotschwar said he appreciated the cooperation of McCook police officers in the investigation.
Contact the sheriff's office, (308) 345-1850, to turn in tools; or call the sheriff's office or the McCook Area Crime Stoppers at (308) 345-5440 or (866) 345-5440 if you have information about this or any crime.
