Friday, January 6, 2017

McCOOK,Neb. -- Junior Hunter Potthoff hit the go-ahead three with 10.5 seconds remaining, then McCook's defense stopped a final Hershey Panther shot to win 42-41 Friday evening.

The Bison (4-6 record) trailed 40-36 until sophomore Gabe Sehnert's corner triple.

After a Hershey free throw, senior Easton Gillen found Potthoff open to hit his game-winner that barely rippled the home net.

Senior Kyle Geisler's great help defense pushed Hershey into one final errant shot as time expired and Bison fans rushed the floor.

McCook stopped a six-game slide going back to December 10.

The Bison girls stretched their win streak to three with a 47-27 victory over Hershey.

Both teams visit Sidney on Saturday.

Watch for more details from all these games in Monday's Gazette.
