Dennis Shannon of Bartley -- "Santa Claus" to kids and pets alike throughout the McCook area for many years -- died Monday, Jan. 2, at his home in Bartley. He was 67 years old. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; two daughters, Jessica Lucero and Sabrina Korell; and five grandchildren. "Santa Dennis" supported the McCook Humane Society and coordinated "Remember Our Veterans" car and bike shows to benefit "Staff for Santa," the Grand Island Veterans Administration Hospital and "K.I.A. Honor Flags of Nebraska." He was involved in the Sinners Sanctified Motorcycle Ministry and the Patriot Guard Riders.
