Joy Arline Horn

BEAVER CITY, Neb. -- Joy Arline Horn, 88, of Beaver City, died Sunday (Nov. 27, 2016) at Beaver City Manor.

She was born on July 8, 1928, at Valentine, Neb., to Edmond and Grace (Patton) Carter.

She graduated from Genoa High School in 1945 and taught in rural schools in Nance and Platte counties in Nebraska.

She married Herman Otte at Columbus, Neb., in 1948. After her husband's death, she worked in restaurant management in Colorado, Wyoming and Arizona and managed country clubs in Nebraska. She was a manager of the Colorado Spring Elks Club at the time of her retirement.

On March 28 1987, she married Wallace Horn of Granby, Colo., and they lived in the Denver area until 2001, when they move to Beaver City to be near family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leon Carter; and sons, Steven and Keith Otte.

Survivors include her children, Michael and wife, Laura Otte of Beaver City, Wayne Otte of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Chris and wife, Tammi Otte of Oxford, Neb.; step-children, Beth and husband, Randy Abell of Creston, Iowa; sisters, Fern Smith of St. Joseph, Mo., and Ivan and husband, Leonard Zoucha of Fremont, Neb.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, 11 a.m. at Faith Community Church in Beaver City with the Rev. Daryl Kats officiating. Inurnment will be at the Roseland Cemetery, Columbus, Neb.

There is no visitation; cremation was chosen.
