Bison bowlers get second at Ogallala
OGALLALA, Neb. -- The McCook unified bowlers had one team finish runner-up and another take fourth place at Saturday's South Platte Invite in Ogallala.
The team of Paul Minary, Mason Sides and Isaac Hegwood shot a qualifying round of 352, then beat Alliance twice before losing to Gordon-Rushville in the championship round 124-110, 122-87.
JJ Myers, Taye Collicott and Trae Koetter fired a 374 qualifying score, then defeated North Platte in Round 1 before falling to Gordon-Rushville and Alliance to take fourth place.
McCook also had two other teams shoot qualifying scores. Cheyenne Fletcher, Brittany Carney, Kirstin Collicott and Terra Sides shot a qualifying round of 229, while Kiersten Erickson, Kassady Lemburg and Matthew Fletcher teamed up to shoot a 156.
McCook duels GISH in Kearney
KEARNEY, Neb. -- The Bison also competed in a dual Monday at Kearney. McCook took on Grand Island Senior High.
Team 1, which consisted of JJ Myers, Taye Collicott and Trae Koetter, had the Bison's best performance with a 3-0 record against their GISH opponents.
Team 2 (Paul Minary, Mason Sides and Isaiah Petty) and Team 4 (Kiersten Erickson, Kassady Lemburg and Trace Decker) both went 1-2.
Team 3, consisting of Cheyenne Fletcher, Brittany Carney and Matthew Fletcher, went 0-3 on the day.
McCook returns to action next week week. The Bison travel to Grand Island on Tuesday, Nov. 29, for the District 7 meet, which will have a trip to the state meet on the line.
The NSAA's unified bowling rules state each school may enter one team to district competition. McCook's district team will consist of JJ Myers, Paul Minary, Tae Collicott, Mason Sides and Isaac Hegwood.
