Gladys was born on May 26, 1933, at Culbertson, Neb., the daughter of Robert and Minnie (Milady) Rogers.

Gladys was raised on a farm north of Culbertson, where she graduated from Culbertson High School in 1951. After graduation, she was employed by Northwest Bell Telephone Company in McCook.

On July 31, 1953, she was united in marriage to Gerald W. Mullanix. The couple began their married life in McCook, where she continued employment with the local telephone company until her transfer in 1968 to Grand Island. In 1992, Gladys retired from US West Telephone Company after almost 40 years of employment.

Even after retirement, Gladys was always on the move and would take several walks a day. She enjoyed the time outside and met several new friends on her many different routes. Gladys would spend time with the veterans at the Veterans Home, sharing stories and snacks. As a gifted gardener, Gladys would grow a variety of vegetables and loved all flowers. In recent months, Gladys loved the days she spent with her great-grandson, Colton. During these afternoons, Gladys showed him the joys of puzzles and bingo, as well as teaching him to print his name.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Gerald of Grand Island; daughter, Karen (Emil) Stichka of Grand Island; brothers, Ronnie Rogers of Lexington and Russell Rogers of Loveland, Colo.; her grandchildren, Ashli (Shane) Nelson of Cairo and Dustin Stichka of Grand Island; special great-grandsons, Colton and Wesley Nelson of Cairo, who fondly knew her as GG; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Minnie Ann Mullanix in 1968; four brothers and three sisters.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
