Richard "Dick" Myers

May 3, 1938 - Nov. 9, 2016

BOULDER, Colo. -- Richard "Dick" Myers of Boulder passed away on Nov. 9, 2016. He was 78.

Dick was born in Culbertson, Neb., on May 3, 1938, to Arvene and Neva Myers. He graduated from Culbertson High School in 1956. He attended the Parks Business College in Denver and upon completion was hired by International Business Machines Corporation in Denver.

Dick was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Jolene Sinner, on March 9, 1958, at the German Congregational Church in Culbertson. They made their home in Denver, where all three of their sons were born.

Dick had a long and successful career with International Business Machines Corporation for 37 years, where he held technical and managerial positions in Denver, Boulder, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Memphis, Tennessee. After retiring from IBM, he went to work at the Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife call center, where he retired as Director of Communications.

Dick was an outdoorsman and enthusiastic sports fan. He loved to hunt and fish with his boys. He was also an avid trap shooter and was named to the Colorado Allstate team from 2003 to 2009. He loved the Denver Broncos and had been a season ticket holder since 1961. He was also a dedicated Nebraska Cornhusker fan and traveled to see them play in Hawaii and in the Orange, Cotton, and Sugar bowl games. Dick also coached his son's and grandchild's baseball teams and served as president of the Northglenn Little League. Dick was an excellent storyteller; he loved to recount life events with an amusing perspective and a sly glint in his eye.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jeffrey.

He is survived by his wife, Jolene; and two sons, Robert and Monica of Madison, Wis., and Brock and Lori of Longmont, Colo.; sister, Cheryl "Cheri" and Jerry Beckenhauer of Papillion; brother, Steve and Billy Stanton Myers of Fort Lauderdale; and grandchildren, Dane Myers and his wife, Shannon, Natalie Myers, Taylor Myers, Nikki Myers, Kaylee and Kyle.

A celebration of Dick's life will begin with a visitation at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at Crist Funeral Home in Boulder. The service will begin at 11 a.m. with burial immediately afterwards.
