Connie Jo Discoe/McCook Gazette

Dirtwork has started for a new "Dollar General" store on Highway 34 at Trenton. On Point Construction Management will locate the new building south of the Soo-Paw Motel and west of the Trails West truck stop. Tonia Rone, the new manager of the Soo-Paw, said the motel's signature sign on the highway will stay, and the motel will continue, with its recent updates and a renovated lobby. Tonia said that she'll miss her front yard grass, and she plans to design and build furniture with some of the lumber from the cedar trees that were removed for construction. Tonia said the new Dollar General will be especially handy for the elderly in town, for those who can't travel to McCook often and for travelers.

  • THIS IS GREAT NEWS!

I can not begin to tell you what a big help this store is going to be!

I hope that you will stock a lot of groceries and motor oil.

I want you to know that you are going to see us quite often in your new store.

  • Shame for not putting this somewhere downtown and getting rid of at least one junkpile in that community. Sigh.................
