Gov. Ricketts, State Sen. Hughes here Wednesday

Tuesday, August 23, 2016

McCOOK, Neb. -- Southwest Nebraskans will have an opportunity to be face-to-face with Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts Wednesday, Aug. 24, when the 52-year-old, first term chief executive comes to McCook for a Town Hall meeting at the Keystone Business Center.

Accompanying him will be State Sen. Dan Hughes.

The two will be in the lobby of the historic Keystone for the hour-long encounter with citizens of the southwest region. Among the expected topics is U.S. Highway 83, a hilly, two-lane stretch of paved road that stretches from Mexico to Canada.

McCook and North Platte citizens are calling for action, saying a "Super Two" improvement program is justified because of the large number of harvest crews and semi transports which slow traffic, particularly on the McCook-North Platte segment of the highway.

Wednesday's Town Hall session with the governor is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. and conclude at 5 p.m.
