Jake O'Dea, left, shows the 2016 Red Willow County 4-H overall grand champion market beef, and big brother G shows the reserve champion, in brutal heat late Friday morning (already in the mid-90s) on the fairgrounds in McCook. Jake's steer, "Mr. Big," is a 1,418-pound Charolais cross; G's, "Hairy," is a 1,294-pound Simmental/Angus. The boys are the 12- and 15-year-old sons of Michelle and John O'Dea of rural Indianola.
