Hometown golfers take top spots
McCOOK, Nebraska -- Hometown golfers captured the top spots in the two-couple golf scramble tournament Sunday at Heritage Hills Golf Course in McCook.
Taking the top prize -- with a 13-under par score of 59 -- was the McCook team of Ron and Doris Friehe and Kirk and Becky Kilpatrick.
Their score was one stroke better than the second place finishers in the First Flight, which was a team composed of Mason Sis, Karmon Coleman and the father-daughter team of Darrin and Kacee Samway.
It was a different story in the second flight with a family of golfers from the neighboring towns of Trenton and Cambridge taking first place. Combining for the win, with a
score of 64, were Dave and Joni Wright of Trenton and Adam and Danielle Wright of Cambridge. The Wrights edged out the Eisenharts from Culbertson, who took second in the second flight. Rusty and Annette Eisenhart and Dave and Doris Eisenhart comprised the Eisenhart team.
Sixty four golfers took part in the tournament, which was sponsored by the Heritage Hills Ladies League. Thanks to generous sponsor support, the Ladies will use money earned at the tournament to purchase needed items for the course.
The Heritage Hills ladies also awarded nine flag prizes. The winners were:
Hole 1 -- Longest putt, Darrin Samway.
Hole 3 -- Longest drive in fairway, Karmon Coleman
Hole 5 -- Closest to the pin, Monte Hazlitt.
Hole 7 -- Closest to the pin, Rusty Eisenhart.
Hole 8 -- Long drive, Don Moore.
Hole 10 -- Longest putt, DeEtte Bailey.
Hole 12 -- Closest to the pin -- Dave Bailey.
Hole 15 -- Closest to the 150-yard marker, Dana Kness.
Hole 17 -- Closest second shot, Dave Eisenhart.
