ORLEANS, Neb. -- Ron R. Schoneberg, 74, of Orleans, died Monday (June 27, 2016), at his home.

He was born Sept. 4, 1941, at Holdrege, Neb., to Glen and Mildred (Conant) Schoneberg. He graduated from Orleans High School in 1959 and Kearney State College in 1963. He taught at Paxton High School for two years. He married D'Maris Stewart in 1966.

They moved to Grayslake, Ill., in 1969 and he taught at the College of Lake County until 1980. In 1988, he taught at McCook Community College in McCook, Neb., until his retirement in 2002.

He was a member of the Arapahoe Planning Board, Cemetery Board, Senior Center Board, and the District 11 Educational Service Unit Board. In 2015, he and his wife moved to Orleans.

Survivors include his wife, D'Maris Schoneberg of Orleans; children, Ronald Mark Schoneberg and Michelle Harsh, both of Hickman, Neb.; sisters, Sandra and husband, Larry McManus of Edgewood, Wash., and Bonnie Phinney of Lacey, Wash.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at 1 p.m. and Mass of the Christian Burial is Tuesday, July 5, 2016, 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans with the Rev. Jamie Hottovy officiating.
