Saying goodbye

Diana and Duane Tappe say goodbye to McCook during an open house-reception Saturday afternoon at the High Plains Museum. The couple moved to McCook 20 years ago, and has been very involved in school, church, community and volunteer activities ever since. Duane figured, with a grin, "We've lived in McCook 1/5 of a century; two decades; 20 years; 1,040 weeks; 7,300 days; 175,200 hours; 10,512,000 minutes; over 6 billion seconds. We have enjoyed almost every minute living in McCook." In his Gazette column dated Feb. 29, Walt Sehnert wrote, "For these years that they (the Tappes) have been in McCook, they have made our town a better place to live." The Tappes are moving to Waverly to be closer to family, especially grandkids. Saying goodbye to Duane, right, during the reception at the museum were Harvey Hinz. Reminiscing with Diana, left, were Fran Allacher, center, and Linda Thieben.
