Native American dancer to perform at Haigler May 7

HAIGLER, Neb. -- The Haigler Community Foundation, in cooperation with the Nebraska Arts Council, will present Garan Coons of Winnebago, Nebrska, a professional Native American (Oglala, Lakota & Navajo) dancer, singer, flute player, and storyteller for an on stage performance Saturday, May 7, at 12 noon mdt at the Cornerstone Center for Community Service, 251 East Norman Street in Haigler. Everyone throughout the tri-state area is invited to attend this outstanding all around Native American entertainer. Admission is free, but donations greatly appreciated.

Garan Coons is the founder of the professional Native American dance troupe, "The Many Moccasins Dance Troupe" and tours extensively throughout the region delivering a spectacular display of true Native american culture. He specializes in the art of Fancy Feather dancing and Traditional Prairie Chicken dancing which allow him to bring history and tradition to life.

This performance highlights the 2nd Annual Dundy Roo Spring Festival in Haigler--hosting the best darn art, craft, wine and brew. Artists and crafters from the tri-state area will be displaying and selling from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. mdt. The Sunshine Thrift will host another of its popular bag sales; new merchandise will be half price. The mini mall and flea market will also be offering half price on merchandise. A delicious food table, wine and micro brew tasting under the canopies in the gymnasium await attendees.

All this is happening in Haigler on Saturday, May 7. Please make plans to attend this festival extraordinaire at the Cornerstone Center in Haigler.
