McCOOK, Neb. -- Downtown renovations to the city parking lot at the corner of East First Street and East D Street will get underway next week. The parking lot will be closed for reconstruction beginning Tuesday and scheduled for completion by the end of May.

The project includes grading and resurfacing of the city parking lot, as well as construction of a steel parking canopy and a retaining wall. A landscaped sidewalk with lighting will also be installed to connect the parking area to Norris Avenue.

City staff asks those typically utilizing the parking lot to make alternate plans and indicated the adjacent alley will also experience temporary interruptions.

BSB Construction is the contractor for the project and will work with local businesses to try to keep any interruptions as brief as possible, according to a press release from the city.

Questions should be directed to Public Works Director Kyle Potthoff at 345-2022, ext. 231.
