Jake E. Nelson of Dalton, Nebraska, recently received his commission as an officer in the United States Army. Nelson completed additional training through the Signal Basic Officer Leaders Course at the United States Army Cyber Center of Excellence in Fort Gordon, Georgia. Second Lieutenant Nelson is currently stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, serving in Charlie Company of the 307th Expeditionary Signal Battalion. Nelson is a 2015 graduate from Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. He graduated with a bachelor of arts in physics and was a member of the Fighting Saints Battalion Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps. Nelson is the son of Gene and Ellen Nelson of Dalton Nebraska, and the grandson of Joan Peterson of Haigler, Nebraska.
