Friday, February 12, 2016

McCOOK, Neb. -- Nebraska Public Service commissioner and McCook resident Gerald Vap departs for Washington D.C. today to attend a conference providing a wealth of insight into a variety of regulatory topics.

The annual NARUC conference, National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, provides the latest information from federal policymakers, consumer advocates, industry representatives and other stakeholders.

Vap said topics covered will include natural gas, telecommunications, the 911 system, critical infrastructure, the FCC, pipelines and others.

Attendees will also learn about the priorities of the new Congress and how the Obama Administration will govern with a Republican majority in both the House and Senate, according to the NARUC.org website.

Vap will be at the U.S. Capitol until Tuesday and return in time to be the featured guest at next week's Coffee with a Cop meeting in McCook.

The casual format meeting is open to the public and begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Sehnert's Bakery and Bieroc Cafe.
