McCOOK, Neb. -- Harold Dean Christiansen of McCook passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at Hillcrest Nursing Home. He was 82 years old.

Harold was born on March 3, 1933, at Great Bend, Kansas to parents Reynolds and Viola (Tieperman) Christiansen. He attended grade school at Mount Pleasant Country School and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1952.

On May 20, 1953 he entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on April 30, 1955.

Harold was united in marriage to Phyllis Wagner on Nov. 25, 1987 at Great Bend. They made their home in Great Bend where Harold was a heavy equipment operator for JOMAX Pipeline Construction. They eventually moved to the McCook community. After Harold's retirement he worked for Heritage Hills Golf Course as an equipment operator.

Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Reynolds and Viola Christiansen; and sister, Chirlene Haase.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Wagner of McCook; son, Richard Christiansen and wife, Sondra, of Independence, Missouri; two step-daughters, Vickey Brooks and Beth Wagner, both of McCook; two step-sons, Chris Wagner and wife, Annette, and Jay Hancock and wife, Susan, all of McCook; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Larry Christiansen and wife, Peggy, of Hudson, Kansas.

Memorials may be given in his name to American Heart Foundation or Diabetes Foundation.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friends may go online at www.herrmannfh.com to extend condolences to the family.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, 2 p.m. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel with Ted Long officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook.
