McCOOK, Neb. -- Mary Frances Lott, age 88, passed away Jan. 21, 2016, at her daughter's home in McCook.

Mary Frances Wortham Lott, daughter of John Brent and Bertha Katherine Wortham, was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Arlington, Kentucky, in Carlisle County.

She graduated from high school in Arlington and then attended Lambuth College in Jackson, Tennessee, her first year of college. She accepted a job in Arlington teaching the seventh grade. She then attended George Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee, and received a bachelor's of arts degree. Mary also earned a Master's in special education at Cumberland University in Cumberland, Tennessee, and taught many years in Tennessee.

Mary married Robert William Lott from Weatherford, Texas, and they had a home in McDowell, Virginia.

Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Trail of McCook and son, Robert (Soraya) Lott of Mesa, Arizona; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one daughter, Mary Roberta.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Private burial will be held at McDowell Cemetery in McDowell, Virginia.
