LINCOLN, Neb. -- Roger L. Olson, age 71, of Douglas, Nebraska, formerly of McCook, Nebraska, died Thursday (Jan. 7, 2016), at St. Elizabeth's hospital in Lincoln.

He was born in McCook on April 14, 1944, to Elmer and Freda (Adams) Olson. He grew up in McCook, graduating from McCook High School in 1962. He attended Northern Arizona University at Flagstaff, Arizona, graduating with a bachelor's degree in business.

He returned to McCook, where he was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad for 18 years. He was united in marriage to Twila Bailey on April 7, 1975. The couple moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, where he sold real estate for several years.

He was an avid card player and a lifetime Chicago Cubs baseball fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Daniel.

Survivors include his wife, Twila of Douglas, Nebraska; children, Shelly and husband, Harv Pierce of Cozad, Nebraska, and Rich and wife, Abby of Lincoln; sister, Janice Olson of Grand Island; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services are Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, 2 p.m. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may leave on line condolences at herrmannfh.com.
