FREMONT, Neb. -- Max George Matson, 68, formally of McCook, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2015 at Premier Estates Nursing Home in Fremont, Nebraska.
Max was born Sept. 2, 1947, to Coral and Hazel (Weskamp) Matson.
Max married Doralena Fritschie on Sept. 28, 1969, in McCook. The couple lived around the McCook area, where Max worked for almost 10 years for Roger Goltl, putting up plaster and dry wall.
He was a member of the McCook Harvest Church.
He loved to eat chocolate. His family remembered his hobby was looking at the ladies. He collected cans and sold them to raise money.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doralena Matson; his parents, Coral and Hazel Matson; step-daughter, Cathy Finch; six sisters, Ruth Moreau, Mary Price, Helen Ahrens, Emma Logan Grace Contreras and Lucille Martinez; three brothers, James Matson, Chet Matson, and Raymond, and an infant brother, Bernerd.
Survivors include his sister, Rosie Gonzales of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; brother, Malvin Matson of McCook; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be in July at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Indianola, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
