Habitat house going up

Wednesday, November 18, 2015

Above, Duane Tappe of Habitat for Humanity joins Wells Fargo volunteers in painting the latest Southwest Nebraska Habitat for Humanity home, 1713 W. Third in McCook. Right, volunteers from the McCook Evangelical Free Church pitch in during a recent Service Sunday event. Among other churches and groups taking part in this year's home, being built for Tammy Barber and her daughter, Christina, are Grace Baptist, St. Patrick Church and Harvest Church. A soup supper is set for Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at McCook Christian Church, 507 West B. Homemade chili, chicken noodle and vegetable beef soups with desserts will be served for a free-will donation. A dedication service at the new home is set for 3 p.m. Dec. 20, with the public invited to attend. Habitat for Humanity homes are purchased with sweat equity and no-interest mortgage payments.
