WALLACE, Neb. -- Wayne Sigal Melton, age 67, of Wallace, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at his rural home near Wallace.

Wayne was born May 3, 1948, at North Platte, Nebraska, to Don and Veva (Washburn) Melton. He grew up on the Melton Ranch southeast of Wallace. He graduated from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.

He went into the Army and served his country proudly in Vietnam. After returning home, he served in the Army Reserves.

He married Renae McClintock and this union was blessed with three children, Amy, Tamara and Nathan. Wayne worked at the family ranch.

Wayne loved working with cattle and riding horses. In his later years, he loved his grandchildren more than anything. He attended many football games and loved cheering his grandson on. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He was very patriotic and loved his country and flag.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Roma.

Survivors include his children, Amy (Steve) Sage of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Tamara (Aaron) Kolbet of Culbertson, Nebraska, and Nathan (Laura) Melton of Lee's Summit; grandchildren, Madison Sage, Coleton Doetker, Kali Melton, Lily Sage, Kailee Kolbet, Karsyn Kolbet, Jeremiah (Alison) Buford, Jared Buford and Hannah Buford; four great-granchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established in Wayne's memory for the Wallace Rescue Service. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.

Services were today, Oct. 19, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Wallace Community Hall. Burial will be in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
