Edith Joyce Weyeneth

McCOOK, Neb. -- Edith Joyce Weyeneth of McCook, formerly of Danbury, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was 94 years old.

Joyce was born on July 4, 1921, at Danbury, to parents Absalom and Isabelle M. (Ruby) Gregory. She graduated from Danbury High School.

On Aug. 1, 1943, she was united in marriage to Norris Elwood Weyeneth at Atwood, Kansas. They made their home on the family farm west of Danbury, where they together would farm until their health prevented them from farming. Joyce also cooked for Marion District No. 4 school, as well as being a busy homemaker and mother of three.

Joyce was a member of the Danbury Presbyterian Church and life-long member of American Legion Auxiliary. She played the piano and organ for pleasure and loved to sing, often singing at church and for funerals. She also enjoyed crocheting and quilting.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Absalom and Belle Gregory; and two sisters, Norma Gregory and Carol Helm.

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie and husband, Kenny Lomax, of Hugoton, Kansas; two sons, Lonnie Weyeneth and Joe Weyeneth and wife, Cheri, all of Danbury; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Hartman of Golden, Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Danbury Presbyterian Church.

Visitation will be today, Sept. 16, 2015, until 8 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Friends may go online at www.herrmannfh.com to extend condolences to the family.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, 11 a.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Keith Theobald officiating. Burial will follow at the Danbury-Marion Cemetery.
