OBERLIN, Kan. -- Harold E. Nichols Jr., 83, died Monday (Sept. 7, 2015), at Decatur Health Systems in Oberlin

He was born Nov. 24, 1931, to Harold E. and Eryline L (Robinson) Nichols Sr. in Oberlin. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1949 and attended two years at Kansas State University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married Kathlyne Canagg on Jan. 31, 1954, and Glenva Leidig Tally on Dec. 7, 1984.

He worked at Nichols Construction and the City of Oberlin Power Plant and Waste Management Facility.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Shriners.

He was preceded in death by parents, Harold and Eryline Nichols Sr.; wife, Glenva Nichols; daughter, Vicky Bogner; grandson, Chris Bogner; and granddaughter, Charlie Bogner.

Survivors include his children, Rick and wife, Pam Nichols of Lebanon, Nebraska, Gene and wife, Tonya Tally of Oberlin, Gerry and wife, Theresa Tally of Oberlin and Deb Farr of North Platte, Nebraska; brother, Dave and wife, Shirley Nichols of Oberlin; family friend, Marie McKisson, of Oberlin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren,

Services are Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at Pauls Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Pettibone officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday after 8 a.m.
