Three-day garage sale to benefit Humane Society
McCOOK, Neb. -- Two staunch supporters of the McCook Humane Society plan a three-day garage sale to benefit the humane society's animal shelter -- sort of a reincarnation of the popular garage sales that raised funds for the animal shelter in the past, but not quite the same.
This sale will not be sponsored by shelter officials, but proceeds from the sales scheduled Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17, 18 and 19, will still go to the care of the dogs and cats of the animal shelter.
Andrea O'Dea and Levina Fritsche will collect items at the 4-H Building on the Red Willow County fairgrounds in McCook on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 14, 15 and 16, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The sale will be Thursday and Friday, Sept. 17 and 18, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Pricing will be $5 a bag, with larger items individually priced.
The women ask that no clothes be donated. "We just don't have the volunteers to sort through the abundance of clothing that people donated for humane society garage sales in the past," Andrea said.
They also cannot accept large kitchen appliances, televisions or computers. "There's no way we can guarantee they work," Andrew said, "nor do we have the means to move large items."
