Brooks Hall ribbon cutting set Monday
McCOOK, Neb. -- Newly-renovated Brooks Hall on the McCook Community College campus officially opens Monday and the public is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. inside the refurbished lobby.
Refreshments will be served and college officials will conduct tours of the $2.082 million project, which included the addition of an elevator and an addition to the cafeteria, which includes more than $200,000 in kitchen upgrades. College officials say the excitement among students is pretty evident as Brooks Hall will be filled to capacity - 100 percent occupancy -- for the Aug. 24 start of fall-term classes.
The project brings MPCC into compliance with Federal standards for Americans With Disabilities Act and with the addition of an elevator all students have access to all floors. Several rooms were also upgraded to make them accessible to students with disabilities.
In addition to the elevator, cafeteria and lounge improvements were made to the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing for the entire building.
In 2014 MCC upgraded the restrooms on the second and third floors.
