Laretta B. 'Lori' Chapin

LOOMIS, Neb. -- Celebration of Life Services for Laretta B. "Lori" Chapin will be on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Westmark Evangelical Free Church, northwest of Loomis, Nebraska, with Pastors Jeff Scherer and Rick Smith officiating. Inurnment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe, Nebraska, at a later date.

Laretta B. "Lori" Chapin, 63 years of age, of Loomis, passed away at her home on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, after a courageous four- month battle with cancer. Lori was born Jan. 11, 1952, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska, to Reinhold and Tillie (Jorgensen) Helms. She was baptized in February of 1952, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Arapahoe and later confirmed in May of 1966, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe. She received her primary education and graduated from Arapahoe High School with the class of 1970. Following her graduation, she attended business classes in Denver, Colorado.

On Oct. 23, 1977, Lori was united in marriage to Floyd Chapin in Holdrege, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Kevin, Mary and Luke. Lori worked for MNB Insurance Company in Benkelman, Nebraska, for 17 years. In 2012, Lori and Floyd began to make their home in Loomis.

Lori enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She attended Westmark Evangelical Free Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edith and Wayne Chapin; brother-in-law, Paul Wendland; and sisters-in-law, Debbie Hunt and Sharon Helms.

Lori leaves to celebrate her life her husband, Floyd Chapin of Loomis; children, Kevin Chapin of Holdrege, Mary Wisnieski and her husband, Steve of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Luke Chapin and his wife, Amber of Lincoln, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Christian Chapin, Julianna Wisnieski, and Joey, Carmela and Penny Chapin; sister, Bernice Wendland of Lincoln; brother, Marvin Helms of Culbertson, Nebraska; brothers-in-law, Barry Hunt of Lebanon, Kansas, and Richard Farris and his wife, Judy of Aurora, Colorado; sister-in-law, Roma Grube and her husband, Stan of Kearney, Nebraska; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family has honored Lori's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Lori's honor and will be designated at a later date.
