E.P. Baruth reunion
McCook Junior College athletes from the E.P. Baruth track squads of the 1960s and 1970s met recently for a reunion on the McCook Community College campus. MCC officials hosted the group of MJC athletes Aug. 1 with ties to the track and football teams. The group had lunch at the Kelley Park lower picnic shelter and toured the campus Gathering for a photo in front of True Hall are (front row from left): Stan Karr, Dave Debban, Raleigh Nott and Steve Haarberg. Neal Gehring came from Casper Wyo, while Al Somma flew in from New Jersey. "The real reason we're getting together is because of E.P. Baruth, our track coach," said J.R. Nott. "He touched many lives and we are all better because of his influence." The group plans another reunion next summer to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of McCook's college.
