Herndon museum grand opening

Thursday, June 18, 2015

Herndon, Kansas Mayor Lewis Stoney is the first guest to sign the registration book Saturday in the new "Herndon School and Community Museum," celebrating with hundreds of other visitors during the Herndon Ox Roast weekend. The museum's collection started with school trophies and educational memorabilia made "homeless" by the sale of the former school building. In August 2014, Herndon alumni members purchased a former downtown cafe to convert into a museum, and the collection is growing to include historical family and community artifacts. The museum is open by appointment; call Julie Hafner (785) 322-5219, or Judy Ketterl, (785) 322-5302.
