Bartley car, cycle show

Gene Witte of Cambridge, Nebraska, foreground left, discusses his 1942 Harley Davidson Model XA with a fellow "gearhead" at the "Bartley Days" antique and collectible car and motorcycle show in downtown Bartley, Nebraska, June 6. One-thousand Model XA's were built for the military; the disk wheels were designed for travel in the desert. Gene's wife, Sue, drove her 1957 Chevy BelAir to the car show. Bill Moore of McCook brushed the road dust off his 1972 GMC C10 Custom pickup. Bill said the pickup's restoration was an easy project because the former owner "never drove her over 45 miles an hour and he treated her like his baby." About 35 bikes of the "Sinners Sanctified" Christian motorcycle ministry of McCook and area rumbled up Main Street, on a road run fund-raiser for "Heart Heroes," a nation-wide support group for children undergoing heart surgery and their families.
