Peddlers new and old seeking city permits

McCOOK, Neb. -- Three local business entities have filed applications for one-year permits to operate as peddlers on public property within city limits. The trio includes new business startup "This and That Food Truck and Catering" owned by Brian Wiemers, long-time snack truck operator Bill Donze, also known as "Mr. Bill," and the McCook Area Chamber of Commerce.

The McCook City Council will consider granting approval during its regularly scheduled meeting Monday evening, 6:30 p.m., at the McCook Municipal Center. Monday's meeting is the first scheduled at the new 6:30 p.m. start time.

Other items on Monday's consent agenda:

* A claim for damages submitted by Deanna Schmidt pertaining to property at 1303 East Circle Drive will be received for forwarding to the city's insurance carrier. The claim cites a broken city water main as causing damage to the approach on a driveway at the location. No estimated dollar amounts were included.

* A professional services/consultant agreement between the City of McCook and W Design Associates relating to paving Industrial Park Drive will be considered for approval. The contract calls for the city to pay W Design no more than $19,250 for engineering services. The city has been awarded a Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $108,000 for the paving project.

* Bid specifications for the construction of a new hangar at McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport will be considered for approval. The approval is contingent upon receiving approval from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics.

* An application for manager from Heritage Hills Golf Course will be considered for approval and forwarding to the Nebraska Liquor Commission. Robert Gaulke is identified as the new manager at the golf course.

* Cowpoke LLC of Thedford, Nebraska, is requesting a special liquor license for a reception in the Community Building at the Red Willow County Fairgrounds on June 13, 2015.

* A resolution appointing Gene Weedin as the city's alternate representative on the Public Alliance for Community Energy (ACE) board of directors.

* The Young Professional Group has requested too utilize city streets on Saturday, July 18, from 6:45 a.m. to noon for a Crazy Days "Color Run" fun run.
