MHS grad wins Daytime Emmy

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- A 1979 McCook High School graduate has won a daytime Emmy as a producer.

John Murphy (formerly Emmett Jones) won the award April 24 for the CBS series, "Henry Ford's Innovation Nation." The show won for "Outstanding Special Class Series."

The award was part of the Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards April 24 in Los Angeles. This is to honor achievement in the fields of producing, directing, writing, set design, lighting, casting, even stunts, Murphy said. Alex Trebek and Florence Henderson were the hosts.

The series is produced by Litton Entertainment, MTO Productions and Ampersand Media for CBS. CBS News' Mo Rocca is the host.

He shares the award with executive producers, Dave Morgan, David Doyle and Bryan Curb; co-executive producers, Jim Lichtenstein and Peter Sniderman, and producer Stephanie Himango.
