Tree care workshop April 30

McCOOK, Neb. -- UNL Extension and the Nebraska Forest Service plan a tree care workshop in McCook, Nebraska, Thursday, April 30.

Extension educator Robert Tigner of McCook says the past years of drought have hurt many trees in Southwest Nebraska. This workshop will answer some questions about tree problems and care.

The workshop is scheduled from 8 a.m. until noon, at the 4-H Building on the Red Willow Fairgrounds in the 1500 block of West Fifth in McCook. The workshop is free of charge.

Topics that will be covered include:

Tree selection for Southwest Nebraska: Choosing drought-tolerant, sustainable trees.

Tree diseases caused by insects and drought.

Proper tree planting, location and care.

Tree pruning basics; Experts will demonstrate proper tree pruning on trees at the fairgrounds.

If rainy weather occurs, all of the sessions of the workshop will take place in the 4-H Building meeting room.
