Maxine Mildred (Hilker) Fisher

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Maxine Mildred (Hilker) Fisher died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at Tabitha Home in Lincoln.

She was born Oct. 5, 1930, at the family farm north of Cambridge.

She was baptized Oct. 19, 1930, at St Matthew's Lutheran Church north of Arapahoe, Nebraska. Maxine was confirmed in her faith on June 11, 1944, at St. Matthew's.

After high school graduation, she taught school in the same one-room school she had attended from first grade to eighth grade.

On May 1, 1949 she married Preston Fisher. They farmed and ranched north of Cambridge and Holbrook for the 50 years they were married and Maxine continued to manage the business after Preston's death on May 28, 1999.

In April 2007, Maxine moved to Cambridge and in October of 2009, she moved to Lincoln.

To the union of Preston and Maxine, five daughters were born. The sons came in the form of sons in-law: Rose [Dave] Hair of Mesa, Arizona, Marsha [Dan] Roblyer of Westmoreland, Kansas, Pam [John] Upward of Fort Worth, Texas, Becky [Max] Heacock of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Deb [Gary] Ahl of Lincoln; nine grandchildren and spouses; Amanda [Grant] Dixon, K.C. [Trey] Potter, Christopher [Rebecca] Upward, Noah [Amber] Upward, Todd [Melissa] Durron, Shannon Dvorak, Jenn [Robb] Seckinger, Jessica [Cade] Olbricht, and Judi [Chad] Lessard; 17 great grandchildren; Marlie Potter, and Jase Dixon, Connor, Kylie, Kelsie, Lealah, Carter, Olivia Upward, Kendal and Destiny Dutton, Logan and Shelby Holloway, Hunter Dvorak, Silas Lessard, Tristan Olbricht, Piper and Kira Seckinger.

She is also survived by a sister, Evelyn Meyers; sisters-in-law, Maxine Fisher and Delores Fisher; many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and Good House family and Tabitha Staff.

Funeral services will be at St Paul's Lutheran in Cambridge on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, 10 a.m. with Pastors Brett Hinrichs and Earl Higgins officiating. Interment will be in the Arapahoe Cemetery in Arapahoe, Nebraska.
