HOLDREGE, Neb. -- Funeral services for Arlen E. Wolfe will be Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Reverend Jeff Adams officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege with military honors provided by the Martin Horn American Legion Post No. 66 of Holdrege in conjunction with the United States Air Force Military Honors Team.

Arlen Eugene Wolfe, 78 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at the Holdrege Memorial Homes. Arlen was born Dec. 15, 1936, on a farm in Furnas County, between Wilsonville and Holbrook, Nebraska, the oldest of two sons born to Roscoe Howard and Avis LaVonne (Scott) Wolfe. He received his primary education at District No. 90 in Furnas County and then graduated from Wilsonville High School with the class of 1955. While in high school, Arlen helped his father on the family farm. He then pursued higher education at Tacoma, Washington, and later completed his education at the Denver University, where he studied engineering.

On May 11, 1956, Arlen was inducted into the United States Air Force, where he served until his honorable discharge on May 10, 1960. Following his service to his country, Arlen was employed by Sundtrend Aviation in Denver, Colorado, for three years in resource and development in engineering. He was then employed in Aurora, Colorado, at the missile base. Arlen then returned home to Nebraska and pursued his electrical license. He became the owner-operator of his own business called Wolfe's Enterprises, which he took great pride in. Prior to retirement in 2002, he was employed by Allmand Brothers for several years.

In 1956, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Campbell and to this union two sons were born: Carl and Kevin. Arlen enjoyed volunteering with the boys' Beaver City 4-H Club and was honored for his dedication during these years. Arlen and Jeanette later divorced.

On June 7, 1981, he was united in marriage to Judith Rae Stewart. Judith brought one daughter, Staci to this union who Arlen later adopted. The couple loved spending time together, dancing and traveling.

Arlen loved refinishing antique furniture in his spare time, and most of all, he treasured the time spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister-in-law, Mary Wolfe.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Judy Wolfe of Holdrege; three children, Carl Wolfe and his wife, Nancy of Phoenix, Arizona, Kevin Wolfe and his wife, Candi of Kearney, Nebraska, and Staci Shepherd and her fiancé, Dillon Stienike of Holdrege; mother, Avis Wolfe of Holdrege Memorial Homes; five granddaughters, Marisa Wolfe, Emily Wolfe, Jenna Wolfe, Alyssa Shepherd and Paige Shepherd; one brother, Gale Wolfe of Cambridge, Nebraska; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, from 1 to 8 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Arlen's honor and kindly suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
