McCOOK, Neb. -- Lawrence Brewster Towne, 99, died Thursday (Dec. 25, 2014), at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

He was born Aug. 28, 1915, to William E. and Jessie J. (Barry) Towne in Lincoln County at the Barry Ranch in Nebraska.

He and his brother bought the farmstead north of Curtis, where he continued to farm.

He married Jean Skiles of North Platte on Aug. 5, 1959.

He moved to Senior Living Choices in Curtis, Nebraska, before moving to Hillcrest Nursing Home, where he spent his last few years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; parents; brothers, Floyd, Melvin, Baby Leonard and William and sisters, Rowena and Verle.

Survivors include brothers, Leland Towne of Wood River, Nebraska, Virgil Towne of Curtis, Harold Towne of Louisiana, Missouri, Max Towne of Elkhorn, Iowa, and sister, Georgianna Ervin of Golden, Colorado.

Visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, 1-3 p.m. at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Curtis. Graveside services will follow at the Maywood Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dale Heimer officiating.

Burial will be in the Maywood Cemetery.
