McCOOK, Neb. -- First Central Bank McCook's goal as the McCook Pantry's sponsor is to communicate to as many people as possible that the Pantry needs the support of everyone in order to be there for those who really need the help.

The McCook Pantry serves a large area -- from Benkelman to Edison and Curtis to Danbury -- 20 communities in all.

Replenishing funds used to purchase perishable items is the goal of First Central Bank McCook's letter-writing campaign. Items such as bread and margarine, along with commodities like flour and sugar, are items that are seldom donated to the Pantry.

This year's letter-writing campaign netted $2,270, which equates to 5,044 pounds of flour.

Since assuming the sponsorship of the Pantry in 2006, First Central Bank McCook's efforts have raised $17,625, the equivalent of 30,921 pounds of sugar.
