McCOOK, Neb. -- Saying the board was going in the right direction, two McCook School Board members attended their final meeting Monday night.

Leaving with eight years on the board, Shane Messersmith told the board he's attended 94 meetings, two teacher hearings and served through three superintendents and ten different board members. "And I've learned something from everyone," he said, noting it was David Schley who began "Positive Comments" at board meetings. By lowering the tax levy the past few years, the board is moving in the right direction, he said, adding that he was honored to be able to serve.

Sandy Krysl, who's served four years, also commended the board for the direction its going.

She thanked the board and administration for the opportunity and especially the teachers, for the hard work they put in.

"It's been a blast, I learned a lot," Krysl said.

Two new board members who were voted in this November will begin their terms in January, Brian Esch and Bob Elder. Current board member Loretta Hauxwell retained her seat.
