CAMBRIDGE, Neb. --Victor W. McCoy, age 87, of Cambridge, died at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Nov. 23, 2014.

He was born in Arapahoe, Nebraska, on Jan. 12, 1927, to Harley and Hazel (Elston) McCoy. Vic attended the Arapahoe High School, graduating in 1944.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army on Nov. 17, 1945, serving in the Pacific Theatre and Japan. Vic was discharged as a sergeant, March 20, 1947, ending his military service.

Vic returned to Nebraska and in 1946, he was married to Madeline Wildman and to this union two children were born, Linda and Steve. Vic spent many years farming south of Arapahoe, retiring from the farm in 1980. In 1985, he married Maxine Ohlson in Mesa, Arizona. They continued to live in Mesa for an extended period of time before moving to Cambridge, Nebraska.

Vic was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, June Roepke and Arva Holloway; and brother, Wayne McCoy.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Cambridge; daughter, Linda Topaz of Lincoln, Nebraska; son, Steve and wife, Diane McCoy of Arapahoe; sister, Mona and husband, Dan Mousel of Edison, Nebraska; brother, Neal and wife, Norma McCoy of Kearney, Nebraska; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at 10 a.m. with George Probasco. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery of Cambridge. Military Honors will be at graveside.

Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary. Friends may leave online condolences at lockenour.com. Memorials may be left in Vic's name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary.
