B. Darlene Korf

McCOOK, Neb. -- B. Darlene Korf, age 92, of McCook, passed away at her home on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014.

She was born in Dundy County on March 28, 1922, to Stephen and Reba (Smith) Ellis. The family moved to Parks when Darlene was young. She graduated from Parks High School in 1941.

Darlene moved to McCook where she worked for the district court. During this time, she was engaged to the love of her life, Wayne Korf. Darlene and Wayne were married Nov. 3, 1945, in McCook at Memorial United Methodist Church. To this union two children were born: Sherwood and Kristi. Wayne preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1979.

Darlene was a devoted, loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church for over 50 years; the Eureka Chapter 86 of the Order of the Eastern Star; past president of P.E.O. Chapter FA, Daughters of the Nile and the McCook China Painters. Darlene was an excellent cook and was known for her peach pie and Christmas chocolate balls. Darlene just canned many quarts of peaches for her reserve supply for pies.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; son, Sherwood; brother, John Ellis; six sisters, Wilma Bauer, Leslie Ault, Josephine Buttenbach, June Schmid, Jenny Haines and infant, Mary Ruth.

Darlene is survived by her daughter, Kristi and husband, Jim Clapp of McCook; grandchildren and great-grandchidren, Michelle and husband, Chris Leitner of Omaha, Nebraska, and children, Ainsley and Graci; Marcus and wife, Leesa Clapp of Kearney, Nebraska, and children, Wyatt, Myles and Lucy; Jenny and husband, Kent Psota of North Richland Hills, Texas, and children, Drew and Vance; Jami and husband, Greg Fought of Lincoln, Nebraska, and children, Tre', Taylen and Kyson; Jodi and husband, Ron Burford of Melbourne, Florida, and daughter, Ashlin; two sisters, Joyce Crandon and friend, Dick Davis of Benkelman, Nebraska, and Patricia and husband, Don Brehm of Omaha, Nebraska; two brothers, Hayden and wife, Thayne Ellis of Wichita, Kansas, and Tom and wife, Jennifer Ellis of Oconto, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Wayne Schmid of Kalispell, Montana; Kiley Harris of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; loving nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

Funeral services for Darlene will be at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Doug Griger officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be today, Oct. 13, 2014, until 8 p.m. at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. The casket will be closed at the church. Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com.

Memorials may be left in Darlene's name to establish a living memorial at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel.
